Another Horrible Move

An amazing comeback by the Mets killed by another managerial move in the bottom of the 8th. Like I said in my post last night, why waste Heilman in a 5 run game what happens if there is a close game today? Well Willie pitched him last night and he threw 26 pitches, and had no problem throwing him out there again with a 3 run lead. Heilman's velocity way down from 89-92 instead of 94-97 and no movement at all on the changeup. Willie forced Heilman to throw 24 pitches (thats 50 in the last 2 days)

This all knowing that Wagner probably wouldn't be his sharpest coming in for the 9th and could use a cushion.

In the bullpen a Scott S/Joe Smith combo could of pitched the 8th inning just like they pitched the 6th inning the other day, but no go for the overworked relief pitcher and make the bullpen look even worse. Seriously will Willie ever understand how to work a bullpen?

UPDATE: o and Joe Smith just looked amazing in that 10th inning facing about the same part of the lineup as Heilman faced.

Then top 10 1st and 2nd for Lo Duca, ok you want to bunt sure. 2nd and 3rd 1 out for Gomez a right handed pitcher on the mound, and Newhan/Castro on the bench can pinch hit who have much more power then Gomez, and have a better chance of the sac fly but he stuck with Gomez who flew out to shallow RF and the Mets wind up not scoring.

An Amazing Start by Perez!

Oliver Perez just dominated tonight, he looked amazing as he went 8 innings WALKING NONE Striking out 8 and giving up just 1 ER.

I think I heard the Fox Announcers say the Mets are set up in the post season to go Pedro,Perez,Glavine as the first 3 starters if they stay on this rotation set.

There isn't much that didn't go the Mets way tonight, but I have to ask a 5 run lead in the bottom of the 9th and Heilman is brought into the game... He has now pitched in 4 out of the last 5 days, and he threw 25 pitches tonight. WITH A 5 RUN LEAD!! Heilman is around the league leaders in appearances, and innings pitched and we have to hope he doesn't run out of gas before the playoffs.

My thought is why was Heilman in this game? You have Humber, and new call up Carlos Muniz (A closer in the minors with good stuff) in the bullpen along with Sele, and Dave Williams who I'm sure could go 1 IP 4 ER.

But Willie went to Heilman and now what happens tomorrow night close game late and the starter only goes 5 or 6, and Wagner isn't available.. Your going to have to pitch Heilman again...

playing with fire.

Sosa for 2?

Willie Randolph blew that game last night, but he gets a 50/50 on the game just because Wagner wasn't available.

I was so proud of Willie for the way he managed the 6th inning, I said it myself at the lohudblog chat room Willie should taken Glavine out and use a Smith/Show for the 6th inning. He did and the Marlins didn't score. He got lucky by getting a scoreless inning from mota, then he brings in Heilman in the 8th knowing Wagner wasn't available in the 9th. Now of course he didn't know it was going to be a save situation so he gets off a little on that.

But now to the 9th, Feliciano starts the inning and after giving up a leadoff hit with a 3 run lead and Miggy up Willie took out Pedro. I don't agree here, after Miggy comes 2 left handed bats and the most he can do is make it a 1 run lead. Instead he went for Sosa who pitched 2 innings the night before, and he blew the save in the 9th. Left in the bullpen was Aaron Sele, Philip Humber, and Willie Collazo. I was thinking that maybe a starter on a bullpen day would throw today, I think it was Perez's throw day.. But there is no way I let Sosa go out for the 10th after how bad he pitched in the 9th.. If your not going to pitch Humber or Collazo, you have to pitch Sele he's well rested and he needs to prove he belongs on the post season roster. But keeping Sosa was a horrible move.

Again you can't just think about the one night you have to think about the following nights..

Aaron Heilman has pitched 3 or 4 straight days he shouldn't be in the game tonight.
Jorge Sosa 4 innings the last 2 games he isn't pitching.
Wagner's back has him day to day.

So unless Pedro gives the Mets 8 they are going to have a good chance of blowing this game late.

Great Article On Willie's Stubbornness And How Bad Mota SUCKS

www.observer.com/2007/why-man-pitching-pennant-race-1
"Mota’s numbers are ugly—a 6.02 ERA, 8 home runs in 52 1/3 innings. He throws just two pitches, a 96-MPH fastball and a changeup at around 84-86 MPH, and he's been unable to command either consistently all season.
Put those numbers in a historical context, and Randolph’s stubbornness ranks among the greatest oddities in recent baseball history."

"On Sept. 16 against the Phillies, after Carlos Beltran tied the game at 5, Randolph brought in Mota to start the sixth inning. Walk, error, walk, and Mota’s day was done, leaving the bases loaded. Three days earlier against Atlanta, Mota entered the eighth inning with the tying runs on base. A base hit later, the game was tied. On August 28, Mota served up a game winning home run to Ryan Howard, after Randolph asked him to pitch the ninth and tenth innings of a tie game against their rivals for NL East supremacy."

"The 2007 Mets have three late-inning options with an ERA 3.16 or lower—Pedro Feliciano, Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner—and all three have ERAs under 3 in September. Should the situation call for a righty specialist, there is Jorge Sosa (.195 BAA from righties). The lefty specialist is Scott Schoeneweis (.217 BAA from lefties). Also available is top pitching prospect Mike Pelfrey, who entered Wednesday’s start with a 3.48 ERA since his 95-96 MPH fastball returned, 20 strikeouts in 23 innings, and only one home run allowed. Joe Smith, who was sent to the minors for struggling, has a season ERA of 3.29—nearly half of Mota’s."

"In fact, his 6.02 ERA ranks 57rd-highest among all relief pitchers with at least 50 innings since 1950. That’s National and American Leagues, every team.
But among the 56 worse than Mota, only three pitchers belonged to a first-place team."

Now This is Willie Randolph On Mota

"I'm going to keep going to him," Randolph said. "He's still got some of the best stuff in our bullpen. He needs to continue to work to be more consistent with things. Right now, he's just going through one of those situations where he just can't seem to get a break, but that's going to turn around for him, that's going to change." (MLB.COM)

So Logic tells us that Willie is an idiot, and one of the worst managers in baseball.

Wilpon Not Happy, Willie On The Hot Seat

Metsblog.com has 2 great articles on the man we hate Willie Randolph. First Jeff Wilpon

“I’m disappointed with the way the team is performing overall, and that’s everyone, top to bottom. I’m disappointed in Omar, Willie, the players…that’s everyone. We shouldn’t be in this position. But we are. We’ve got to fight our way out and pull this out.”

Stark writes…
“If this season ends badly — especially if it ends with the Mets’ becoming the first team since 1938 to blow a seven-game lead in September — there is absolutely going to be talk about whether it’s the manager’s fault. And not just on your car radio.”
Stark gives Randolph 25-1 odds that he won’t be back.

~Thank you Wilpon not down playing it, he could of just not said what he was thinking like "Hey man were not playing great but I think we can play better" who does that sound like? He said exactly what was on his mind and he deserves to he pays better then $120 mil for this team to be the best it can, and right now with Randolph they aren't.

If the Mets don't win it all I really don't think Randolph will be back.

Playing Like A Bunch Of Pansies

Quote of the year

A day earlier, one of the Mets said: "We play at the temperature of the manager. I know Willie cares a lot, but he's not showing it much.

I've been saying it all year long, they play how Willie manages like nothing is going on and there is nothing wrong with being just 1.5 games ahead after being 7 games ahead just a week ago.

You know last night while the Mets were getting raped again, I turned on the Yankee game, and guess what MICHEAL KAY was talking about WILLIE RANDOLPH. The Yankee broadcasters are idiots, let me get that out there but they were talking about how Willie learned from Toree and has the same approach not to show emotion on the field, and the players and fans love Toree for it.

Now is it just me or is Joe Torre in the same boat? Beisdes Torre having a solid 7-8-9 bullpen, he can't manage either, he gets away with it because he has a 200 million dollar team and plays in the AL so there is no need to do anything but swing for the fences.

The Fans want Torre gone, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a firetorre.blogspot.com

The problem with Willie is that he stuck around Joe to long, Many Acta was Willie's bench coach and as soon as he could he got out of there, even if he had to take the worst job available. We saw Willie get out managed last night, as he stuck to his gut and refused to put Humber in a close game instead went to Scott S. for the 3rd straight day after Maine got rocked, and guess what it didn't work out.

On the other side, Acta used 7 pitchers anywhere from 7 innings in the majors, to the league leader Jon Rauch in innings.

Another Topic
Rick Downs:
Willie Randolph never told Downs he was fired, he found out by the media they asked him and he had no idea. After that Downs called Willie and asked Willie "Am I fired?" and Willie said "Yes"

Omar was very upset with the way Willie handled the situation.

Mets have 2 meetings

Today the Mets had a Meeting along with coach Willie Randolph, then after they were tired of hearing Willie's bullshit they had a players only meeting. Most likely in this meeting they threw darts at a picture of Willie, Pedro held a midget up high and they got some things out in the open.

It was probably Wright, and Alou who did most of the talking these are the guys playing hard every day right now, and you know what I'll give it to Shawn Green I didn't want this guy on the team out of spring training, and wanted him gone again after he played like Shit after his injury but he's picked it up, and is playing some great defense at 1st base along with some clutch hits.

Mets DFA Pitcher Brian Lawrence

Yeah so the Mets go with Lawrence over Humber then after Lawrence gets owned like everyone knew would happen.
Now the Mets have called up Dave Williams, and he will most likely make the next start in El Duque's place. Again another guy who can't break 85 on the gun and throws slop up there over a top prospect. Again we know whats going to happen in 6 days when Williams takes the hill. He'll get rocked and make the bullpen work hard.

About Last Night

-Really raise your hand if you wanted Brian Lawrence to start over Philip Humber.

-What a coincidence the Mets weren't in a tight game late, and we didn't see Mota pitch. Willie obviously saving his key pitcher for a close game tonight.

-Pitching in his 3rd straight game Willie Randolph wanted 2 innings out of Sosa.

-Why can't we see Humber in a pressure situation? Can he really be worse then anyone else out there?

-Joe smith came back out for the bottom of the 8th last night, after he didn't look like he had his good stuff in the 7th, he got threw the inning but now Willie has an excuse to put Mota in the game tonight against a right handed hitter late in the game.

Quote "Smith wasn't available I had to go with Mota."

Here's my point

If Willie just used the bullpen as

Scott S only to get the big lefty out
Smith only to get the big righty out
Mota only in mop up ROLE
Feliciano for 1 inning TOPS

Then use Sosa and Heilman in the setup roll and Wagner to close. The bullpen would be fine, one of the best but he just can't do it.

Willie can't accept that this is all his pen can handle, there is no such thing to limitations to Willie got to stick with the vets because of track record.

Willie's Worst Moment

What is the one thing Willie has done this year that has pissed you off the most? The thing that made you want to (or maybe you did) punch holes in the wall.

He is just not a good Manager, I want him fired which is the purpose of this site. A new manager for next year: Mazilli he's in the booth I like his managing style. I think he would be a perfect fit for this team, Willie needs to be managing a team like the Pirates, or a team like the A's.

WILLIE <3 MOTA

We Have Had ENOUGH

I think me and all other Met fans have had enough of Willie Randolph, and here's why.

1.He can't manage a bullpen, how many games has he overused/underused/mota used/ causing a loss.

2.His love for veterans, the last straw tonight starting BRIAN "I SUCK" Lawrence, over the 24 year old Philip Humber. His reason? It was Lawrence's day to pitch. BULL SHIT When it was Humber's day to pitch back in August Lawrence still got called up. Please did anyone really think El Duque was going to make his next start after that poor performance? The Mets could of easily had Humber ready, but you got to go with Track Record so Brian Lawrence it is, and he's done without finishing 5 innings what a surprise.

3.His never give up attitude only for Mota. Guillermo Mota is the worst pitcher I have ever seen in my life, he is so bad that I know plently of Met fans who have vogued to turn off the game when he enters, yeah OK he sucks but that's not the end of it. If a guy like Mota is on the team for any reason he should be in MOP UP ROLL. AKA THE GAME IS OVER COME ON IN. But no anytime the game is close late who comes in? Guillermo "I NEED THE ROIDS" MOTA. But who is the man calling his number WILLIE RANDOLPH.

4. Willie Randolph can watch his team play like SHIT for a week straight to division rivals, and just sit on the bench and act like nothing is going on. He is the only manager who does not try to get his team fired up, he just sits there with his arms crossed hoping the baseball Gods will help him. Sadly for Willie he can only put Mota in once a game :/.

But the excuse is always THE METS ARE IN FIRST PLACE, they were ONE win from the World Series last year. PLEASE who couldn't manage this team to first place, in football it doesn't matter how good you do in the regular season if you can't do it in the playoffs your
G-O-N-E.

I AM TIRED OF WILLIE, SICK AND TIRED.
SOMEONE PLEASE GO KIDNAP BOBBY V. AND BRING HIM BACK!
